Michael is a wheelbuilding master: I've never had a pair of lightweight wheels that are so responsive and quick to accelerate.
I call them my rocket wheels. My wheels are DT R1.1 rims, laced onto some Campy Record hubs with DT Aerolite spokes.
Since I use these wheels for both road and 'cross racing, Mike built them as 2-cross in the rear with his usual radial lacing in front.
I don't want to jinx my luck, but so far these wheels have been golden for me: 2 road racing wins
(both on hilly courses) and 1 cyclocross win.

Read a great article about the shop and Michael
I have been riding bikes for many years and was looking for a way to improve my riding skills and stamina.
A couple of years ago, Michael Johnson, proprietor of Wheelfine Imports recommended the Bianchi Pista track bike.
After alot of thought and 10,000 questions, all handled expertly by Michael, without making me feel inferior,
I finally broke down and went for it. There have been no regrets.
When the bike arrived, Michael, an expert wheelsmith in his own right, trued the wheels to perfection.
After closing for the day, Michael took me out for an unexpected one-half hour initiation ride to assure
I was able to safely master this fixed gear, no brakes bike. Michael carefully observed my riding style and offered
tips on techniques, i.e. cleats properly in the pedals, elbows slightly bent and relaxed,
knees closer to the top tub, and heels down "sweeping the road."
Michael takes a sincere interest in each customer's particular bicycling needs. His expert advice and encouragement have
helped bring my riding to the next level. I could have bought this bike at any number of shops closer to home that carry Bianchi,
but I never would have received the first rate, old world personal attention that I did at Wheelfine Imports.....

Traveling to the Northeast on business or pleasure?
Make a side trip to Wheelfine Imports Pro Bike Shop part of your itenerary.
No need for just New Jersey to enjoy this unique bike shop.
.... Lambertville, another cycling mecca and home of Wheelfine Imports, run by Mike Johnson. Wheelfine is my personal favorite shop and Mike's a great guy; he was a Euro-tour wheelbuilder and mechanic, has forgotten more about cycling than I'll ever know and hasn't forgotten much!
As stated by others...
Not only a cyclist, but a wheelman to boot! Wheel Fine Imports is the finest shop in Jersey.
Maybe even the Eastern seaboard .. all the great Italian, French and European bikes are here.
-------------Posted on RoadBikeReview in Aug 2004,
If you are looking for a hard-core Euro loving bike shop you owe yourself a trip to
WheelFine Imports.
The owner is named Mike and he is a bike loving / bike building genius.
He is just the kind of bike shop owner that you want to meet when you are just starting out.
BTW, he has every brand you ever wanted to see, DeRosa, Merlin, Orbea, Cinelli,
Bianchi, Eddie Mercyx, and on and on... its like a adult candy store.
After visiting every bike shop in the tri-state area over 15 years,
my favorite is Wheelfine. Michael has great inventory and every visit is like a
cycling class.
